Missions Conference Giving Projects

We are asking the congregation to fund the following projects to support the work of our missionaries in spreading the Gospel. Please prayerfully consider these opportunities to be a light in the darkness.

Maureen Finnegan — Hawaii
Each year Child Evangelism Fellowship – Hawaii (CEF Hawaii) rents a camp for two weeks to train their summer missionaries, Christian Youth in Action (CYIA). We want to partially fund their camp expense: $2,500

Kevin and Lucy Heater France
Seven years ago the Heaters purchased an "almost new" van for their ministry. A breakdown last summer made them realize they should plan to replace it. We want to contribute toward the cost of a newer "almost new" van: $2,100

Paul and Suzy Parker Tennessee
Every year the Parkers send many children from their ministry to summer camp. This year we want to help them send 14 children to summer camp: $2,240

Ray and Ruth Shive Jamaica
Four times a year the Shives transport over $30,000 in pharmaceuticals to Jamaica for distribution by their teams. Due to security and weight restrictions, they need to purchase sturdier, more durable luggage to transport the pharmaceuticals without loss or breakage. We propose to fund the purchase of medical hard-side totes to transport the pharmaceuticals: $1,000

Marshall and Thelma Southard Congo
Bunia Seminary, at which Marshall taught many years ago, has become Shalom University. Many of the students are extremely poor. Work scholarships would allow the neediest to work and get a bit of money for food. We propose to fund some Shalom University student work scholarships: $1,300

Marcos and Suzette Souza Brazil
Marcos Souza is the adopted son of former Barcroft missionary Doris Jackling, who joined her Savior a few years ago. Their youngest daughter, Danielle, is in dental school and needs to buy lab and clinical materials. We propose to provide part of their expense: $1,500

Marcos son, Marquinhos, is married to Monica Jackling and both are assisting Marcos and Suzette in their ministry. Monica is completing the last two years of her college education. We propose to assist Monica with part of her tuition: $1,500

Dave and Debbie Tazelaar Mexico
Dave and Debbie have planted a church, Dios Es Mi Refugio (God Is My Refuge), among the Mixteco people in Tijuana, Mexico. They have purchased land for a church building and the congregation is helping with the building by giving and labor. We propose to provide funds for the construction of the church in Tijuana: $5,000

Gheorghe and Georgetta Tomososchi Romania
Gheorghe Tomososchi is a pastor we support through the Romanian Missionary Society. Pastor Tomososchi has planted a church in the village of Ungureni. The church members have built the walls and roof of a church building, but need additional funds to finish the interior so they can hold services in the building. We propose to provide funds to help finish the interior of the mission church building in Ungureni: $1,360

Rick and Kathy Wacek Indonesia
Ten years ago, Rick and Kathy began supporting
Ibu Loppies, a Christian widow from a Muslim background, and her five children. Ibu has a clear Christian testimony and wants to open a home for grandmothers without a support system. Her daughter, Debora, has come to the U.S. to receive an education to assist her mother in this vision. Debora is attending NVCC and living with the Wacek family. We propose to help with the education expenses for Debora Loppies: $1,500

Projects total: $20,000

Please see the post from March 6 for more information on the upcoming Missions Conference, including a schedule of events.

Last Night's Potluck with A Purpose

This is a guest post from Tom Hayes:

The Potluck with a Purpose began at 6:30 PM with a wonderful time of fellowship and a meal together as family. Stephen Simons serviced as moderator and offered a testimony of what God is doing in his family’s life. At the conclusion of the meal we had an informative program.

Communication & Planning: Jeff Royce, Chris Carnahan and Curt Marsh introduced the Planning and Communication Tiger Team. Chris talking for the Communications and Curt for the Planning areas. They described how the team is working to honor God through better and more effective communications and planning. This is a directly related to the need to bring excellence in all we do and to give evidence of “Loving Like Christ”. Ministry leaders are requested to participate in an initial BBC wide Planning Session on Thursday 27 March at the Church. Much more on this later! Please contact Tom Hayes if you have questions.

Missions Conference: The Missions Elder, Jeff Royce introduced the focus of the Missions Conference “Light in the midst of Darknesson 4 -6 April. See the Blog for more information or contact the Church Office.

Church Staffing: The Elders are chartering a Staff Search Committee that has expansive responsibilities that include:

1 – Begin the process of discovering God’s man for Youth so as to ensure continuity and excellence

2 – Respond to the needs for additional senior staff in the area of administration

3 – Provide summary of potential future staffing needs – full time, part-time, volunteer

Please pray for God’s direction and timing as we pursue this with a sense of urgency seeking to join God in what He is already doing to meet these staff needs. We need to exercise due diligence through a process that would be unifying and allow our church body to sense God’s clear direction and provision in meeting our staffing needs.

Youth Ministry/Children’s Ministry; Chet Arnold discussed the current situation and plan for a Sunday discussion with Riptide and Anchor time. His primary focus was on the need to practice loving one another through this process. In particular Chet wanted the youth to know that they are an important part of Barcroft and that they are much loved.

After closing in prayer the meeting was adjourned.

Missions Conference Coming April 4-6

At the Missions Conference, we will be talking about light in the midst of darkness. Luke 11:36 says: If you are filled with light, with no dark corners, then your whole life will be radiant, as though a floodlight were filling you with light. We will be exploring that through music, the speaker, and other forms of worship.

The Youth Praise Band will be leading the worship for the conference. They have been working on creative ways to express the concept of lights shining in the darkness. I'm excited to see how The Lord will use their lives and their efforts through this conference

The Missions Conference speaker will be Mike Jones who ministers in the Middle East. He will be spending the weekend teaching us from his experience there. Mike is a great story teller, which comes from his many and varied experiences working in that region.

We will also be having a dinner on April 4 to celebrate what God is doing around the world to draw people to himself and build his kingdom.

Here is the Schedule:

Wednesday, April 2, 7:00: Riptide with Mike Jones

Friday, April 4, 6:30: Dinner, followed by an evening service

Saturday, April 5, 6:00: Service

Sunday, April 6, 9:00: Questions and Answers with our Missionaries
10:30: Mike Jones is speaking at our morning service
5:00: Interactive Prayer Service followed by a time of food and fellowship.

I hope you plan to attend. God willing, it will be a time where each of us is called to a higher commitment to what God wants to do in our church and through our church.
